Decora Style Wallplates to Become Standard

Our single-gang 9879 Cat 5 receiver is now standard in most pre-packaged Cat 5 systems. The 9879 was introduced at CEDIA in 2007 and has quickly become the most popular Cat 5 receiver option.

The 9879 wallplate offers several advantages over the original, stainless steel, dual-gang 9878 wallplate:
  • Fits in a single-gang electrical box
  • Comes with Decora color inserts (white, ivory, and almond)
  • Rear facing IR jack for in-wall IR wiring
  • Front facing IR jack for external IR connections
The change will begin immediately, but you can still request 9878 dual gang stainless steel wall plate receivers or 9880 on-wall/in-wall receivers at the time of your order. The AVAtrix (AVX-661 and AVX-561) and SixDrive (AVD-71D) now include the 9879 as the default wallplate/receiver.

The DuoDrive (9870) is slated for the same update in the near future, but is currently still packaged with the 9878.
