FAQ for Model 1154B

Q: Can I switch composite video with the 1154B?
A: Yes, but all inputs and outputs must be composite video. Use the green RCA jack when switching composite video.

Q: Can I switch RGB video with the 1154B?
A: No. The 1154B is designed to switch YPbPr, on jacks with green, blue and red colored jacks. This is not the same thing as RGB, which is actually short for RGBHV or Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal (sync) and Vertical (sync). RGB is often called VGA in the computer industry. YPbPr requires only three wires. Pb and Pr carry half of the color spectrum each, and Y carries the luminance (the light and dark information) and the sync.

Q: How does AutoSelect™ work on the 1154B?
A: The 1154B listens for the presence of digital audio and analog audio and switches to the input position that has the newest signal.

Q: Does the 1154B sense video signal?
A: No, the 1154B only senses audio signals; video signals are simply switched along with the audio.

Q: Why must I connect analog audio from the sources if my system does not require it?
A: The 1154B can more reliably detect the active source if both digital and analog audio are connected. Be sure to connect at least the left channel when using AutoSelect.
