FAQ for Model 9879, and 9880 Wallplate/Receiver
Q: Is this a balun system?
A: No, the 9879 is a powered, active receiver for a differential balanced line system. The concepts are similar, but there are two important differences. For details, see our Cat 5 Advantage page.
Q: Can I run IR either way down the IR pathway?
A: The DuoDrive (Model 1170) and SixDrive (Model AVM-71) do allow IR to pass either way. The AVAtrix would require a Model 1109 IR Injector to send IR signals to the Wallplate end of the Cat 5 run. The AVAtrix is a switcher, so it is expecting to receive IR signals, not send them. The IR input on the 1156/66 controls the AVAtrix only, and is not able to send commands to other products at the Wallplate location. See the Model 1109 manual for details.
