Overview

The 1154B is a completely redesigned 4-input, 1-output AutoSelecting switcher with infrared remote control. It switches high definition component video up to 1080p, and audio signals including stereo (analog), digital coaxial, and digital optical audio. The 1154B is a useful companion to any component video-based entertainment system, enabling higher performance video switching than most A/V receivers, and a step up in quality over passive switchers with limited bandwidth.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I switch composite video with the 1154B?
A: Yes, but all inputs and outputs must be composite video. Use the green RCA jack when switching composite video.

Q: Can I switch RGB video with the 1154B?
A: No. The 1154B is designed to switch YPbPr, on jacks with green, blue and red colored jacks. This is not the same thing as RGB, which is actually short for RGBHV or Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal (sync) and Vertical (sync). RGB is often called VGA in the computer industry. YPbPr requires only three wires. Pb and Pr carry half of the color spectrum each, and Y carries the luminance (the light and dark information) and the sync.

Q: How does AutoSelect™ work on the 1154B?

A: The 1154B listens for the presence of digital and analog audio and switches to the input position that has the newest signal. AutoSelect does not function if audio is not connected from the sources.

Q: Does the 1154B sense video signal?
A: No, the 1154B only senses audio signals; video signals are simply switched along with the audio. If AutoSelect functionality is required, but no audio signals are available, the Model 1154A may be a better solution.

Q: Why must I connect analog audio from the sources if my system does not require it?
A: The 1154B can more reliably detect the active source if both digital and analog audio are connected. Be sure to connect at least the left channel when using AutoSelect. Audio connections are not necessary for IR control.
