The ADX-1616 is the cornerstone of a quality distributed audio system. Loaded with features like onboard volume control, 2.1 channel sub/sat zones, a 10-band equalizer, tone and balance controls, the ADX-1616 mates up with any zone amplifier and control system to deliver high fidelity audio to up to 16 independent stereo zones. New discrete commands are provided in the revised ADX manual, available for download below.
Supports 16 sources and 16 zones (Model ADX-0808 supports 8 sources, 8 zones)
Ethernet, RS-232, IR, and front panel control options
Digital volume control, 10-band EQ, tone, and balance for each output zone
Many features can be used from the front panel controls. This video briefly explores how to use the touch-sensitive buttons and multi-function knob to switch sources, adjust volume, modify EQ settings, and other tasks.
Video Tutorial: Naming Sources, Zones, Favorites and Groups
ADX matrix preamps allow easy naming of source devices, output zones, favorite scene presets, and groups of outputs. This tutorial shows how to use the ADX software utility to enter custom names and save the configuration file.
With ADX matrix preamps you can adjust a 10-band EQ on each stereo output. This tutorial shows how to load ten basic presets provided with the PC utility, and how to create and save your own presets.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the DB25 connector for on the rear panel of the ADX? A: The SonaFlex multi-zone amplifier accepts input signals from ADX or HLX via the DB25 connector as an alternate input method. The ADX-1616 can support two SonaFlex amplifiers.
Q: What is the process to create a 2.1 zone group? A: First apply the low-pass filter to one zone output, which produces a mono signal on both channels. Then group the lowpass zone with a full range or high-pass zone, so that group commands (e.g. volume, mute, and switching) effect both outputs.
Q: Can I use both of the mono outputs in a lowpass zone? A: Yes. Both low level zone outputs may be connected to separate powered subwoofers, or to two separate amplifiers driving passive subs.
Q: Do you offer an iPad app for ZQ? A: We no longer support a Command Fusion template, but all ADX commands are available in the manual for use with Command Fusion or any other software.
Q: Why don't changes to an EQ preset take effect immediately? A: Select another preset in the zone and then return to the changed preset. EQ presets are not designed to be adjusted on the fly.
