The AVAtrixPLUS is a complete, simple solution for whole house entertainment: video matrix switching, distributed audio, and volume control. Six audio/video sources distribute HD signals to video zones up to 1,000 feet away. The industry's first Cat 5 matrix still leads the category with a combination of performance, value, and unique features.

What is AVAtrixPLUS?
AVAtrixPLUS is a package including one AVM-562E, one 1173BK, and one AMP-1235. We created the package to make this popular system easy to specify. To expand video and/or audio output capacity, call for an exact configuration meeting your requirements.

IR Routing

The AVAtrix includes an IR routing system that is unique in the industry. The AVM-562E offers individual IR outputs for each source. This routing system allows zone IR signals to be routed only to the source currently active on that zone. This design is vital for installations including multiple cable or satellite receivers of the same brand. The AVAtrix also includes a Main IR Output for all signals returned from the remote zones.

Note: IR Routing is not a viable control method for all installations. Before planning to use the AVAtrix's IR routing system in your installation, contact our technical support personnel for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I expand the number of video and audio outputs on the AVAtrixPLUS?
A: The AVAtrixPLUS output capacity can be expanded in increments of six. To expand video zones, add 1176BK expanders. To add audio zones, add one 1173BK expander, and one AMP-1235. The maximum number of AVAtrixPLUS zones is 18. The AVAtrix must be the higher capacity AVM-562E when adding more than two expanders (1176BK or 1173BK). Call Audio Authority to configure a system to meet your requirements.

Q: Can I add video zones without adding more distributed audio zones?
A: Yes. Each AMP-1235 should have a 1173BK for switching and volume control, but more video zones may be added by installing multiple 1176BK Cat 5 expanders. The AVM-562E has a capacity of five expanders, not counting AMP-1235 as an expander. Call Audio Authority to configure a system to meet your requirements.

Q: If I customize my system, can I still get the AVAtrixPLUS package discount?
A: Yes. Call for a discounted quote on custom systems. It will always be to your advantage to order the AVAtrixPLUS package and then customize, rather than building a system from individual components.

Q: Can I use just one Cat 5 cable if I only need Component Video?
A: Yes, if you use a Model 1110 adapter, any AVAtrix dual Cat 5 output can feed a Model 1180R or 1180RD single-Cat 5 zone receiver. Note: these receivers offer Component Video and digital audio, but no IR pathway, and no analog audio connections.

Cat 5 receivers are required for system installation. Receiver styles include Model 9878 shallow-depth, dual-gang wallplate, Model 9879 Decora-style, single-gang wallplate, and the Model 9880 on-wall or in-wall Cat 5 receiver.

Our single Cat 5 receivers offer the same great quality component video but require only ONE Cat 5 cable. Model 1110 adapts the dual Cat 5 output of the AVAtrix to work with single Cat 5 receivers. Digital audio pathway included. Model 1180RD is the Decora-style, single-gang wallplate, and the Model 1180R is the on-wall or in-wall receiver.
