The UniDrive is "A Better Kind of Balun" - a high performance active point-to-point Cat 5 extender capable of distributing high definition component video, analog stereo audio, and digital audio signals from one source to one display over distances up to 1,000 feet. Including proprietary A.G.E. (Active Gain Equalization) technology, high frequency signals are presented with their original quality intact. Incorporating the key signal paths necessary for premium audio and video entertainment, plus an IR pathway for easy remote control of AV components, the AVP-11 replaces six coaxial cables with two inexpensive, easy to install Cat 5 cables, and requires no power at the Cat 5 Receiver.

  • Up to 1080p component video (YPbPr)
  • Coaxial digital and stereo analog audio
  • Infrared remote jack for IR pathway
  • Only one power supply required: Receiver is phantom-powered through Cat 5 cable
  • Alternative Cat 5 zone receivers: Model 9878 and 9879

Key Features
  • Distributes video and audio over two Cat 5e/6 cables
  • Transmits one source to one destination
  • AGE (Active Gain Equalization) technology for maximum picture quality
  • Balanced line technology rejects outside interference
  • Extends component video, analog audio, and digital audio up to 1,000 feet
  • Component video (YPbPr) - 1/1
  • Digital audio (coaxial and optical) - 1/1
  • Analog stereo audio (L/R) - 1/1
  • IR pathway - 1/1

What makes the UniDrive "A Better Kind of Balun"?

  • Proprietary A.G.E.(Active Gain Equalization) circuitry allows for compensation over long distances, something a passive balun can't deliver
  • More installation friendly than most "active" baluns - power pack is only required at the transmitter, making for a clean appearance in the viewing area
  • Wide variety of signal types meet almost any installation requirement (component video, analog audio, digital audio, and IR)
Receiver Options

The included 9880 Cat 5 receiver can be conveniently mounted on any surface, on or inside a wall, or even on a TV or TV mount. The UniDrive transmitter is also compatible with the 9878 and 9879 wallplate/receivers that can be installed in dual-gang or single-gang electrical boxes, respectively.
9879 wallplate/receivers come with three Decora color inserts: white, ivory, and almond. See AVP-11D for a kit that includes a 9879 wallplate/receiver.

The Infrared Pathway

The 3.5mm IR jacks provide convenient access for a third party IR remote distribution network over the passive, three-wire pathway on the
Cat 5 cable. IR receiver and emitter equipment is not included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I expand the number of outputs on the AVP-11 or AVP-11D?

A: The AVP-11 systems are designed for simple point-to-point operation. If more than one output is needed, the 9870 may be a better choice. The 9871 drivers can be bussed together to add almost unlimited numbers of outputs. If rack mounting is needed, the AVD-71D Cat 5 Distribution System is a good choice, and is expandable to 42 outputs.
