Front detail

The HLX™ System is easy to configure to your exact requirements. It distributes HDTV signals up to 1,000 feet away to convenient zone receivers mounted wherever televisions are to be located. For audio systems, the HLX offers DSP and volume control per output (more about HLX for audio). Optional audio zone cards feed multi-channel amplifiers to distribute music to zones. Its robust back plane design allows up to 12 sources to distribute component video up to 1080p, along with analog stereo audio, digital coaxial audio, and digital optical audio. Four audio sources may be added, for a total of 16 source inputs. The new HLX offers a winning combination of performance, value, and unique features.
  • Custom configurable matrix (try the HLX Configurator)
  • Source inputs from 4 up to 16*
  • Zone outputs from 8 up to 96
  • Easy DB-25 audio connection to SF-16M amplifiers via audio output card (2278)

Frequently Asked Questions

   See Also the HLX Knowledgebase

Q: How can I order a specific HLX configuration?

A: Use the HLX Configurator to design a custom HLX, then call with your order. Custom configurations are shipped fully assembled and tested.

Q: Can I use just one Cat 5 cable to zones that require component video with no audio or IR?
Yes, if you use a Model 1110 adapter, any HLX dual Cat 5 output can feed a Model 1180R or 1180RD single-Cat 5 zone receiver. These receivers offer component video and digital audio, but no IR pathway, and no analog audio connections.

Q: Why doesn't the HLX include a remote control?
The HLX is a professional grade matrix, designed for integrated systems that use a comprehensive control system such as Control 4, Cinemar, RTI, Crestron, or URC. If you are not comfortable with this level of programming, check the CEDIA website for a custom integrator in your area.

Q: What are the main differences beween the HLX and the AVAtrix?
The AVAtrix was a very effective system for small matrix applications, but the HLX provides many advantages over the AVAtrix in capacity and design. The HLX has a maximum capacity of 12 sources, compared to the AVAtrix maximum of six. The HLX offers Ethernet control, and many other features not available on the AVAtrix. See a detailed comparison here.

Q: Do you offer an iPad app for ZQ?
We no longer support a Command Fusion template, but all HLX commands are available in the HLX User Manual HLX User Manual [View] (7.95 MiB) for use with Command Fusion, iRule, or any similar software.

Q: Can I configure the HLX for 16 source inputs?
Yes, see guidelines and limitations for 16 source configurations.
