The White Lightning Mini-GPU achieves a remarkable 88% efficiency to provide up to 27A of power at 28 volts DC, perfectly replicating the in-flight electrical environment.

Safe, Affordable, Airframe Power

The White Lightning Mini-GPU achieves a remarkable 88% efficiency to provide up to 27A of power at 28 volts DC, perfectly replicating the in-flight electrical environment. Its cool running, switching-mode power modules provide massive amounts of stable, noise-free power, compatible with input voltages from all over the world. It will continuously power the most delicate avionics and airframe systems without risk of depleting the ship’s battery or causing costly damage.

This Model M2827 comes with an 6’ airframe output cable with red SB50 connector at one end that protects from damage due to accidental voltage mismatch.

GPU Features
• Output: 28 VDC, 27 Amps maximum continuous
• Input: Universal, world-wide, 85-264 VAC, 47-63 Hz
• Switching Mode Output Module with automatic self-protection for short circuit / overload / over voltage / over temperature
• Digital output meters for both voltage and amperes
• Includes detachable input and output cables
• 6-ft airframe output cable with red SB50 and 3-pin AN2551 plug signify 24/28V operation only and lockout yellow 12V plugs to protect from voltage mismatch
• Compact, lightweight design utilizes highly efficient digital switching-mode power modules for voltage stability and long-term reliability

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use the M2827 to start an aircraft engine?
A:
The M2827 GPU is inadequate for piston and turbine engine starting and should be used for airframe systems power only.

Q: How does the GPU connect to my aircraft?
A:
The Model M2827 Mini-GPU includes a 6’ output cable with a 3-pin oval AN2551 plug that connects the GPU to the aircraft.

Q: Can I use the M2827 to charge my battery?
A:
The Model M2827 Mini-GPU is not designed for long-term battery charging. It has no circuitry for monitoring the battery’s state of charge or determining the precise charging voltage for various battery conditions and ambient temperature. So, the general answer is no. However, for short periods of time (an hour or two), the GPU’s output can be used to “top-off” the charge of a battery that is NOT severely discharged. This is particularly useful during a powered preflight, allowing the pilot to take his/her time to check every airframe system and lights for proper operation without depleting the starting battery.

To optimize battery capacity and reliability, we highly recommend full-time, maintenance charging desulfation, and recovery. Our preference is the aviation specific BatteryMINDer products by VDC Electronics. The BatteryMINDer is designed to remain connected for long periods of time and will never overcharge or damage your battery.

Q: Does the GPU work outside North America?
A:
Yes, the input voltage and frequency ranges are very wide and universal for worldwide operation: 85-264 VAC, 47-63 Hz. The AC cord supplied is a North American grounded 5-15, which can be adapted, or replaced with an appropriate cord, sourced locally.
