Access Tech Tips:  RS-232 and IR

The Audio Authority® 970A is a protocol converter which allows any device capable of receiving and transmitting ASCII characters via an RS-232 port to control product selection on an Access™ Demonstration Network. 

970A Custom GUI

A touchscreen with custom Graphical User Interface communicating to the Access network using serial protocol and the Model 970A-1.



A Model 905 IR Remote (discontinued) or an equivelant 3rd party IR remote with Access IR codes Access IR codes (5.49 KiB), may be used to control legacy Access sytems via IR. A Model 902/903 Control Panel is required to use this method, the IR window is circled in red below. If your installation includes the Model 990 Ceiling-Mounted Infrared Receiver, it connects to the 3-pin connector on the rear of the 903. The 990 extends the IR remote user range, see the 903 manual for more details.
